yes, i’ve diagnosed myself. although the symptoms are similar, this condition is far worse than when i suffered from it during the spring semester of my senior yr. in high school. 15 minutes ago i was reading some stupid article for a boring ass filler class i’m taking. the whole time i’m screaming in my mind, “fuck this, fuck the professor”, etc. now i have no problems with the professor, he’s the sweetest old man ever really but his teaching style make a potentially awesome class soooooooo boring. and i guess that’s what motivates even more to be a teacher. right now my mindset is fuck school and i can’t believe i’m following up graduation with graduate school but the same reason i can’t stand my classes is the same reason i need to finish the yr. off strong, complete graduate school, and get a job teaching biology at some high school. because i don’t want other students to suffer through awesome material taught in humdrum ways. and while there are teachers out there that make the learning experience more interesting and fun for the kids, there aren’t enough to keep most kids interested in continuing to higher education. i think some teachers forget that the reason they became interested in teaching is because one of their own educators used a different approach that lit a fire in them to pass that same spark along to other students. i guess what i’m trying to say is that we need to reintroduce teachers to the passion they have for teaching.
